  1. To turn on the dash smartkey, check this button. When it‚Äôs off, the options are dimmed.

  3. To temporarily disable the dash smartkey, check this button and hold down the command and option keys when typing the second hyphen.

  5. To convert an em dash just typed to an en dash (vice versa if Use En Dash is on), check this button and type another hyphen.

  7. To change the two hyphens into an en dash (an em dash otherwise), check this button.

  9. To add a preceding and trailing space to the dash, check this button.
